Welcome to my rabbitry website. We are a small rabbitry located in eastern Massachusetts.

    Until I got an English lop, I thought they were hideous and they were my least favorite breed. On the other hand, I loved the French Lops. I wanted a rex.  Somehow I got a slight spark of interest in English lops and did some research. This was encouraging as they were indeed very interesting, with thousands of years of history from Ancient Egypt to England, and a personality that everybody on the internet loved. So I got a pair from Lynn Mandile, Heather and Simba,  and later I got a buck from Aaron Dillon, Mallow, and a Doe from Heather Tate, Hollyhocks. Of these I still have Heather, who has won be all my ribbons yet, Mallow, who is out of two of the #1 top Lops, and Hollyhocks, who has yet to begin her show and breeding career. I tried out giant angoras but the just weren’t the same. Thanks Especially to Aaron for always offering advice.

We found our first rabbit, Melon, the night of the first snow storm of December 2003. He was put in a child’s play tent, and we borrowed feed and hay. For days he would run freely around two rooms, constantly breaking through his card board barrier and chewing cords. The night after we found him, we met a neighbor at a grocery store, and asked them if they knew someone who had lost a rabbit. We found out that a her collage student had liberated her rabbit, ‘Bunny’, into the wild in December. My acquaintance asked awkwardly if we could keep him, and she said that would be great. We haven’t heard from the family since.

    He’s gained in a cage and litter box, but he never quite settled in with our chinchilla, and holland lop Blackberry. He is very territorial and temperamental but will stop anything for some petting. We think he is a Silver Fox mix, because he has stiff white guard hairs like a silver fox. Melon is around seven years old, and has won Best pet a number of times for his personality. Without him, we wouldn’t know we could even love a rabbit!
